Why book

A southerly Dubai to Bangkok variant that dips further south over the tip of India and Sri Lanka before entering the Bay of Bengal and crossing into Thailand. Has the same warning area safety as the direct route — both avoid all warning areas. Used by some Emirates seasonal flights and charter operators. Adds roughly 10–15 minutes versus the main route.

Worth knowing

Bay of Bengal weather during southwest monsoon season (June–September) may cause minor delays. The southern path over Sri Lanka and southern India is clear of all warning areas.

Equivalent advisory-zone clearance to the direct_subcont routing; ranked second on time alone (+~15 min, ~5,100 km). Both routings are fully advisory-clean.

  • More southerly track over the Indian peninsula than the primary routing — equally advisory-clean.
  • Sri Lanka FIR (VCCC) and southern Indian FIR transit is operationally standard.
  • Bay of Bengal crossing into Myanmar and Thailand FIRs is advisory-clean throughout.
  • Adds ~10–15 minutes versus direct subcontinent routing; used by some seasonal and charter filings.
