EASA issued flight warnings for Iranian airspace following military conflict that closed the Tehran FIR in February 2026. The eastern FIR has partially reopened for overflights above FL285, but most international operators are still avoiding the area.

US and Israeli strikes on Iranian military targets on February 28, 2026 caused Iran to close its airspace fully. A ceasefire was announced on April 8, 2026. From April 18, the eastern part of the Tehran FIR reopened for overflights above FL285, and commercial passenger flights resumed at Tehran airport from April 25. The western FIR remains closed. Most European airlines and long-haul operators are still avoiding Iranian airspace. Check with your airline before assuming normal routing via Iran.
