Official notice: EASA CZIB-2017-07R20 ↗ · in force until April 30, 2027

Airlines are told not to fly over Yemen at any altitude. The one exception is part of the airspace over the sea to the east, where the advice is to fly with caution instead.

European regulators tell airlines not to operate over Yemen at any height. The country has seen repeated heavy fighting, and armed groups there have fired ballistic missiles and drones over long distances and hold advanced weapons built to shoot down aircraft. The risk is that a passenger jet is mistaken for a target, and regulators rate it high at every altitude. The advice has one exception: sea routes in the east of the area Yemen controls, where the risk is rated lower and airlines are told to fly with caution rather than stay out. The area shown here covers only the part the ban applies to.
