Airlines are told to avoid Iraqi airspace. Some countries allow their airlines to cross it high up, but the official advice is to stay out.

Iraq sits directly under the main flight path between Europe and the Gulf, so this warning affects a lot of routes. European regulators tell airlines to avoid the country's airspace. Several national authorities stop short of a full ban and instead allow flights only at high altitude, well above where the risk sits. Airlines also report their navigation signals being jammed over northern Iraq. Some carriers still cross it at height; others route around it entirely.
